Inez M. Hobart papers, 1910-1942 (bulk 1932-1936).

The papers in this collection deal exclusively with Inez Hobart's work as extension nutritionist for SERA during the 1930s. Most of the papers are broad in nature and cover many of the nutrition programs sponsored by SERA from 1932 to1942. In addition, materials relating specifically to the hot school lunches SERA project are included with this collection. Old photographs showing the first hot school lunch served in Minnesota (1910) can also be found with the materials regarding the hot school lunch program.

Inez Hobart, state nutrition specialist and associate professor in home economics, was associated with the University of Minnesota Agricultural Extension Service 1923/1924-1954. During the depression in the 1930s, the Minnesota State Emergency Relief Administration (SERA), in cooperation with the Agricultural Extension Division of the University, studied nutritional problems.
